The Smeg 50’s Style EGF03 Espresso Machine with Integrated Grinder in Matte Black is designed for those who want greater control over every stage of coffee preparation – from freshly grinding the beans to extracting espresso and texturing milk. Combining Smeg’s distinctive 1950s-inspired aesthetic with barista-oriented technology, it creates a complete manual coffee station within a single appliance.

An integrated grinder with stainless-steel conical burrs allows coffee to be ground immediately before extraction, helping preserve its aroma and flavour. The grind can be adjusted from extra-fine through fine to medium, while dedicated settings provide the appropriate quantity for either a single or double espresso. The removable bean container has a capacity of 250 g and features a practical Twist & Lock system.

The espresso system uses a professional-size 58 mm portafilter and a coffee-circuit pump capable of delivering up to 20 bar. An integrated pressure gauge allows extraction pressure to be monitored in real time, providing useful feedback when adjusting grind size, dose and preparation parameters.

The dual thermoblock heating system uses separate circuits for coffee brewing and steam production. This means the steam function is ready immediately after coffee preparation, significantly reducing waiting time when preparing cappuccino, flat white or other milk-based drinks. The professional stainless-steel steam wand offers two steam intensity levels for greater control over milk texture.

The EGF03 provides extensive customisation for manual espresso preparation. Users can choose between four pre-infusion profiles – short, standard, long and progressive – as well as four extraction temperatures. Coffee length and grinding quantity can also be adjusted, allowing recipes to be refined for different beans and individual preferences.

Dedicated controls provide settings for single and double espresso as well as grinding for one or two cups. The machine reaches operating readiness in approximately 90 seconds, while adjustable standby settings allow the automatic switch-off interval to be selected according to everyday use.

A 2.4-litre removable water tank provides generous capacity, while alerts indicate when the tank is empty or when descaling is required. The machine also allows water hardness to be configured across four levels to support appropriate maintenance.

The included barista accessory set provides the essential tools for espresso preparation and maintenance: pressurised and non-pressurised filters for single and double coffee, a stainless-steel milk jug, stainless-steel tamper, water-hardness test strip, cleaning disc, brushes and cleaning needle.
