The KitchenAid Artisan 5KSM70SHXEMS in Silver Medallion is a high-capacity planetary stand mixer designed for demanding home kitchens. Built around a robust 6.6-litre bowl-lift system, it combines increased mixing capacity, high stability and precise speed control for everything from delicate folding to intensive kneading of dense bread dough.

Unlike tilt-head mixers, this model uses a bowl-lift construction with a three-point bowl locking system. The bowl remains firmly supported during operation, providing additional stability when working with large quantities and heavy mixtures. The ergonomic lift mechanism raises the bowl into the correct working position without requiring the mixer head to move.

At the heart of the machine is an efficient DC motor combined with all-metal gears. The mixer provides 67 planetary mixing touchpoints, allowing the attachment to work thoroughly throughout the large bowl and helping produce consistent results across both small and substantial batches.

There are 11 speed settings, ranging from intensive whipping to an exceptionally gentle dedicated folding speed. This low-speed setting operates at approximately half the standard mixing speed and is designed to imitate careful hand folding – particularly useful for incorporating whipped egg whites or cream while retaining air in delicate mixtures.

The Soft Start function gradually brings the mixer up to the selected speed, helping prevent flour and other dry ingredients from being thrown out of the bowl. Integrated thermal protection automatically switches the mixer off if excessive heat is detected, while the full-metal body and gearing are engineered for durability during demanding use.

The generous 6.6-litre brushed stainless-steel bowl is KitchenAid’s large-capacity solution for home preparation. It can handle up to 3.9 kg of dense bread dough, 3.5 kg of mashed potatoes, 2.7 kg of cake mixture or dough for as many as 156 standard cookies. It can also mix dough for up to 14 pizzas or batter for up to 120 cupcakes.

For more efficient bowl coverage, the mixer includes a double Flex Edge beater with two flexible edges. Its shape continuously scrapes ingredients from both the sides and bottom of the bowl, reducing the need to stop the machine and scrape the mixture manually.

The stainless-steel accessory set also includes an 11-wire elliptical whisk, flat beater and spiral dough hook. The spiral hook is specifically designed to work efficiently with dense dough in the large 6.6-litre bowl, while the whisk rapidly incorporates air into cream, egg whites and frostings.

A secure-fit pouring shield helps keep ingredients inside the bowl while providing convenient access for adding them during mixing. The universal attachment hub also supports a broad selection of optional KitchenAid accessories, extending the mixer far beyond traditional baking tasks.

Finished in Silver Medallion, the mixer combines its substantial all-metal construction with light brushed-aluminium detailing, satin-chrome accents and an embossed decorative band.
